Welcome! My name is Kaley Nicholson. I’m glad you are here and I hope you stay for a while.
Lovely Thyme Studio serves as my portfolio and sometimes my diary where I log recipes and artistic opinions. I started food blogging in 2017 and then became obsessed with the food photography side. In 2021, I abandoned that blog to focus on producing images that highlight vibrant colors and textures and connect us through storytelling. I shoot for food blogs/websites, cookbooks, and brands. I take care of the styling and post production needs as well. I’ve been lucky enough to have my work featured in Vegan Life Magazine.
My Background
I was born in 1996. I reside in Kansas and have since I was 18. I feel I have always been creative. Some of my early memories are of finger painting and trying to sketch the world around me. Because I wanted to be practical, I stopped taking art classes in 9th grade. I came back to creative pursuits in 2016 when I picked up my first DSLR camera to have an outlet. I am primarily self-taught. My bachelor’s and master’s degrees are in unrelated fields (social work).
More about me
Outside of photography, I like to spend time running, drawing, and watching TV. I am also a dog mom and drink a lot of coffee!
My Thoughts on Social Media
I dislike posting on social media. I find it extremely draining to try to keep up with getting views, likes, and follows. At one point, I was very active so I wanted to make the distinction here that this is no longer my preference. My instagram and Pinterest accounts are linked at the bottom of the site if you wish to follow me but please know that I am not a consistent poster. I do respond to DMs and love to support other people’s work. As far as client projects, I will still of course offer photography services for social media accounts. Thank you for understanding.
